Timed Assessment- In The Role Of The Hair Stylist

Being in the role of the hair stylist was very stressful and challenging at the same time. However as I and my partner had several practice sessions, I was quite confident with her design as we approached the final assessment. I was still quite stressed as I wanted the outcome to be neat and the way Sophie wanted her design to be. During the final assessment there are many things that could have gone wrong, like the hair not being neat, the braids not having the same thickness, the braids at the back not forming equal loops and the ponytail not sitting directly on the hair doughnuts at the bottom. I did struggle with getting the ponytail looking sleek as when I picked the hair to tie it I would end up with bumps on the front of the pony. I did not want this happening as Sophie wanted a sleek look at the front as well as the back. I then picked sections of hair to tie into a ponytail and I found this easier as it got rid of any bumps and I managed to get the ponytail as sleek as I could. I also struggled with getting the braids to be equal in terms of their thickness. I did remove the extensions twice and done the plaits again and got there in the end. Working through all these challenges I was pleased with myself on how I created Sophie's design. However, I thought I could have been a little more neater on the braids on the sides as there was some loose hair that I can see in the picture on the left hand side of the page.
