Practical- Using Padding to Create an Elizabethan Hairstyle

  • I used padding to create this heart shaped Elizabethan hairstyle.
  • When I used padding before this, I wasn't confident at all as the padding wouldn't grip properly to the head.
  • However, after this lesson and getting some tips from Helen, I was quite pleased with the way I gripped the hair rat to the hair as it didn't move and was quite sturdy.
  • On this particular day my model did not want her hair to have any heat on it as she freshly cut it.
  • Nevertheless I still tried practicing, firstly I created a middle parting and sectioned the hair.
  • I then placed the padding in the places I wanted it to sit, gripped it to the head and rolled the hair over it and pinned it in place.
  • As my model had thin and short hair it didn't cover the padding very well although I backcombed her hair.
  • For next time, crimping would be a good technique to give the hair some volume.
  • As I was not confident using padding, I think I did a little better using them this time however, I still need practice with them.
