Redheads and Royalty has been a very interesting and challenging
project for me as in the beginning I didn’t like hair as much however towards
the end I must admit that I quite enjoyed myself. Looking at the Elizabethan
era and exploring into the history of hair was really fascinating as I learned
about the facts that I had no clue about. On the other hand researching about
contemporary hair that references Elizabethan hairstyles was amazing as to how
top fashion designers and makeup artists are influenced by this specific style
in recreating fashion, looks and hairstyles today in the 21st
century. After all the research coming up with my three final designs was a
challenge as there were so many inspirations out there. Once I got it and also got paired for the
timed assessment the journey of creating the contemporary Elizabethan hairstyle
reached the climax. I was pleased with my partner as we both communicated with
each other really well and managed to get three practices each before the final
timed assessment. Creating another person’s design was a challenge for me as
the other person would have expectations on how they want their design to look.
I was really nervous about this as I wanted my partner to be pleased with what
I did. I was happy with how she created my design and so was my partner. In
conclusion I really enjoyed the Redheads and Royalty journey as I overcame my
fear that I wasn’t good with hair and learned that with practice it is
possible.
