Contemporary Hair- Curls

The above clip is taken from the movie Elizabeth by Shekhar Kapur. Elizabeth is portrayed by Cate Blanchett. Emphasizing on her hair in this particular scene it shows the use of tight curls an loose curls. At the top of her head she has tight curls and loose curls falling on her shoulders. Although this is a remake the hair seems to be very historical.

This image is from the BBC series, the virgin queen. The hair is styled with curls along the hair line. The hair is also decorated with pearls as was don in the 16th century. Again I think this looks like a traditional Elizabethan hairstyle.

The hair in the above image has symbolic references to Elizabethan hairstyles, However displays a very modern look. The hair round shape however it looks like a heart shape because of the jewel used in the middle of the hair and also the use of the chain in the hair which almost look like pearls. The loose curls on the sides of the head also relate back to the 16th century.

The above pictures are from Marc by Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection. The big messy curled hair really caught my eye. The curls reference the Elizabethan hairstyles as well as the volume in the hair. This is because Queen Elizabeth 1 used to like her big as it represented her status.
