Practical: Crimping, Backcombing and Padding

Crimping
1. Section the hair and start
crimping from the bottom
of the head.

2. Crimp the whole head and section the
hair in the middle or the desired side.

3. After crimping the whole head brush the
hair out. This will give lots of texture
 to the hair.

Backcombing

2.  After backcombing I smoothed
out the hair at the front and
formed a puff and pinned it at the
back of the head.
1. Pick up small sections
of hair. Using the comb
gently but firmly comb
the hair downwards.

Padding

1.To add a hair rat lift the hair that you
want wrapped around the hair rat.
Just beneath it create a french plait
against the scalp and pin it to the scalp.
This will help secure the hair rat in place.
2. Pin the hair rat on top of the french plait.
Secure it using grip pins.

3. Wrap the hair around the hair rat
and pin it in place using grip and hair
pins.

Evaluation
I enjoyed crimping the hair. I found more effective than curling the hair. This is because its faster and it gives the hair more volume than curling. I also enjoyed learning how to backcomb the hair. The technique was very effective and it was easy to brush out at the end. However, I would prefer the hair without a hair rat. This is because I found it difficult to work with it. No matter how many pins I secured it with, it would just nit sit in place properly. On the other hand, after crimping and backcombing the hair I found it really flexible to just mold the hair into the shape I want and pin it in place.
